Turin-Milan (Italy) – The Board of Directors of CV Lab has appointed Marta Antonucci as Ceo of the company. Antonucci is the first manager to take on the role after the foundation of the incubator and the beginning of activities in the Summer of 2016.
Biomedical engineer with a PhD earned at Imperial College London and twenty years of experience in the cardiovascular devices sector, Marta Antonucci has been President International of Thoratec Corp. until the acquisition of the company in 2015 by St. Jude Medical, where during last year she held the position of Vice President International for Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS). Previously, her career had developed in senior international management positions in marketing and sales, especially in Boston Scientific Corporation, Guidant Corporation and Sorin Group.
CV Lab is the first European incubator specializing in cardiovascular. Founded in 2016 by a group of entrepreneurs and investors, CV Lab partners with the most creative physicians, researchers and technologists to assess their ideas and patents from a business perspective and support the development of the most promising ones toward the market. The incubator selects the most interesting projects and, in partnership with the inventor, brings them to the appropriate level of maturity to meet the attention of international venture capital firms. CV Lab is looking for high impact prokects that solve true unmet clinical needs, foster the reduction of healthcare budgets and aim to become a cardiovascular standard of care within 4-8 years.
«I feel very privileged to be joining the CVLab team, wihch includes a wealth of experience in the key areas of early_stage product development and is composed of a diverse group of serial entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and industry experts», said Marta Antonucci. «Our mission is to bridge that, often daunting, gap between patenting an idea and reaching proof of concept, which so many inventors, especially in the clinical field, experience. CVLab has been created to lower the barriers and unleash the great creativity we see in the cardiovascular space towards its full market potential.»,
«The arrival of Marta Antonucci, manager with great international experience in the cardiovascular devices’ market, fosters CV Lab incubation projects», commented Andrea Venturelli, Chairman of the Board of Directors. «In Italy and in Europe similar opportunities for innovation are unlikely to materialize: doctors are devoted to their clinical work and to research, they have no time to nurture the business implications of their activities. So, if the have a good idea, they easily tend to keep it asleep. CV Lab helps the best of these projects to reach a level of maturity that naturally attracts capital.»
